21 days of prayer

and Fasting

Starting Monday, January 5th until Sunday January 25th, CityReach Church begins our corporate 21 days of Prayer of Fasting. Whether this is your first fast or your fifteenth, God honors every step you take toward Him. Together, we are seeking God’s presence and His direction for our lives and our city.

Why We Fast

Fasting isn’t about suffering; it’s about making room.

  • Room for clarity and breakthrough.

  • Room for healing and transformation.

  • Room for God.

The Theme: Luke 14 & Revelation 19

Jesus tells of a Master who prepared a great banquet and issued a call: "Come, for everything is now ready". Though some made excuses, the Master opened His doors to everyone. This same invitation reaches you today. Fasting prepares our hearts for the ultimate "marriage supper of the Lamb" by teaching us to desire Him above all else.

What to Expect

There is no pressure to be perfect—just show up. As you fast, expect God to:

  • Strengthen you in areas of weakness.

  • Break mindsets and patterns that hold you back.

  • Fill you with fresh joy, purpose, and power.

The table is set. Let’s begin with open hearts and full expectation.

During these three weeks, the Tacony Campus (6814 Torresdale Ave.) will be open from 6-8am for morning prayer. Our 21 days of prayer and fasting will culminate in a corporate prayer time on Sunday January 25th at The MET at 3pm. On this Sunday, we will only have one service at both of our campuses at 10am. We will also be sending out daily prayer guides during this time. If you'd like a copy of the 21 day prayer guide, please click here

Types of Fasts

Complete Fast

You drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.

Selective Fast

You remove certain elements from your diet. One example is the Daniel Fast; during which you remove meat, sweets, and bread from your diet and consume water and juice for fluids and fruits and vegetables for food.

Partial Fast

This involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as sunrise to sunset or from 6am to 3pm.

Soul Fast

This is a good option if you do not have much experience in fasting food, have health issues that prevent you from fasting food, or if you wish to refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance. For example, you choose to stop using social media for the duration of the fast and then carefully bring that element back into your life in healthy doses at the conclusion of the fast.
